SAJITH PUTHUKKALAVATTOM

00 , KERALA

Sajith Puthukkalavattom is a Kerala-based contemporary artist whose vibrant and thought-provoking works explore the delicate relationship between humans and nature. Growing up in a rural village near Ernakulam, his agrarian surroundings deeply shaped his visual language, inspiring artworks rich with symbolism, intricate detailing, and environmental consciousness. His practice encourages viewers to reflect on ecological balance, human responsibility, and the quiet rhythms of rural life.

With a National Diploma in Painting from R.L.V. College, Tripunithura, Sajith has been an active presence in the Indian art scene for over two decades, participating in more than a hundred exhibitions and art camps. His major participations include the 55th–58th National Exhibitions of Art (Lalitkala Akademi), CIMMA Art Mela Kolkata, SCZCC National Exhibition, and multiple solo exhibitions presented by the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi. He has also taken part in significant national art camps such as the National Painters’ Camp (New Delhi), National Art Conclave (Lucknow), and Ethnic Mindscape Workshop (Chennai).

Sajith is the recipient of multiple honours, including two Kerala Lalithakala Akademi State Awards (2016–17, 2019–20), Honourable Mentions (2006, 2014), the Sidhartha Chithrakala Puraskaram (2014), and the Vijayaraghavan Endowment Gold Medal (2008).

Rooted in nature and refined by experience, his works continue to evolve as powerful reflections on environment, culture, and human life.
