00 , KERALAAkhil Mohan is a contemporary artist from Kerala whose practice is deeply shaped by his agricultural upbringing and an intimate connection with nature. His works explore the intricate relationships between indigenous communities and their environments, drawing heavily from themes of agrarian life, traditional craftsmanship, and ecological harmony. Through minimal, earthy palettes and a precise observational approach, his art celebrates rural labour, indigenous wisdom, and the quiet beauty of everyday tools and landscapes.
Akhil holds both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Fine Arts from the RLV College of Music and Fine Arts, Tripunithura, and has developed a strong presence in the Indian contemporary art scene as an exhibiting artist, educator, and guest lecturer.
He has participated in several major exhibitions, including the Indian Art Fair, Lokame Tharavadu, Kerala Lalithakala Akademi exhibitions, and showcases at the Indian Habitat Centre. Among his most recognised bodies of work are the “Rice Series” and the “Coconut Husk Series”, both of which reflect his deep engagement with rural material culture and ecological storytelling.
